Challenges That We Faced at the Start

Speak to Find is an in-house app designed to aid people who tend to misplace their devices regularly. To create an app that could detect voice commands from variable distance took its time, posing new challenges for the development team.

Battery Drain due to microphone

Device microphone would stay active even when the device itself was in use. This led to considerable battery drain.

Voice Detection mechanism

The voice detection mechanism interfered with calls and would become active in the middle of a call. This created usability issues.

Active/Inactive state

In situations where the device is turned off, the voice detection mechanism would become inactive. But it would remain inactive even after the device has been turned on.

Ring Detection

The app also provides the ability to play sound after voice detection even if the device is in silent mode.
